Wastewater linings have been in service for over 30 years and are the predominant method of wastewater rehabilitation. However, there has been little work done on validating lining performance and making improvements to these products,
Sub-project 2B (Wastewater) will be led by the University of Sydney, with other parties to this Sub-project having direct involvement in the field testing through the provisioning of test beds (pipes of access chambers) and supply and/or application of various calcium-aluminate cement (CAC) or Geopolymer coatings. Five utilities (Central SEQ Distributor-Retailer (QUU), Melbourne Water, SA Water, Sydney Water and Water Corporation) have elected to hold these field trials and each utility will adopt the testing of CAC and Geopolymer coatings and run their own validation program. The outcomes from the laboratory and field testing will be used to develop standards and training modules for the implementation of CAC and Geopolymer coatings within wastewater treatment.
